Procrastination Station

Okay, so I'm procrastinating. But there is one thing that I must speak about and that is street sweepers. I'm not kidding, our street gets sweeped at least once a week. I mean, don't get me wrong, it is really sweet to have a freshly sweeped street, but don't you think it's a little excessive? Don't you think maybe our tax dollars could be put to better use? I just realized that this rhymes like a poem. Here, I'll write it in a poem for you.

One thing

of which I must speak:
the street
sweapers sweep my street
once a week
at least.
It's really sweet to be freshly sweeped
but don't you think

it's a little excessive?

Yeaht, that's how I roll. Totally procrastinating, right?

Yeah...get busy.

But that does seem really frequent. We only get it like twice a year.

in Murray we used to get them several times a week. Now it is like once a month or so in our complex.

I've never seen a street sweeper on my street. Next time send them my way...

So I knocked on the street sweeper's door. He rolled down his window and stared at me.

"This street, as I'm sure you can see, is already squeaky clean."

He looked through his windshield and shrugged.

"Do you have a girlfriend on this route or something?" I asked him. I was staring up at the window and the sun was getting in my eyes.

He just shrugged again.

"Well," I said and shaded my eyes so I could see him. "I have this friend, Bob, who's street is really dirty, and I mean disgusting. Would you mind driving this rattletrap street sweeper into Salt Lake and sweeping his street?" I handed the man Bob's address which I had scrawled on a strip of paper I'd ripped off a McDonald's take out bag. It had a grease-spot on it and smelled like cardboard french fries.

He glanced at it and shrugged.
