Riding the bus

Here is Zach heading off to his first day of Kindergarten. Bus #6 comes at 8:09 am and picks up all the miscreants and takes them to school. This was the most orderly bus riding experience I have ever seen. We walked out the door and Rem was just coming out his door across the street. So Rem walked Zach over to the bus stop and showed him the ropes. Rem is a first grader, so he knows all the ropes, see.

When they got to the bus stop, the kids all lined up in a straight line. They stood in that line for about ten minutes. Just standing there. Being good. Kids who came first got in the front of the line. Kids who came last got in the end of the line. It was truly amazing. When the bus got there and opened its door, the children filed forward one at a time and boarded the bus. No pushing, no shoving, no kicking, no throwing elbows, no biting heinies.

The reason I say this was amazing, I guess, is because I have limited personal experience with riding a school bus. The only time I ever rode the bus was to high school. The bus came at 6:25 in the a.m. so we were all so fetching tired; but who can catch Zzzzzs on a bus, right? And also, when I think of riding the bus I think of Miss Crabtree, the bus driver on Southpark.

SHUT UP KIDS!

David will get his first bus experience tomorrow so this gives me hope that it won't be as bad as I am imagining it to be. But I just worry too much anyway.
Did Zach's bus driver at least have the crazy eyes? or the bird on the head? That would make for some great stories down the road...

That was funny! Thanks for sharing because I had a mrs. Crabtree driver when I went to school. Maybe Zach can make new friends named Eric, Kyle, and Stan. Don't forget Kenny.

I'm glad Rem could help. The reason the kids are so orderly getting on the bus is because that bus driver is pretty scary. I don't think she yells at the kids, but most of them are pretty scared of her.

What cute first day of school pictures! You kids WERE pretty deprived - you never got to ride the bus to school OR drive to church. The only bright spot was the aspestos (how does the song go?) scare when you had to be bused to different schools.

That should probably be a b.

Remember our bus driver Mike Barella who would pull the bus over and make us listen to rodeo stories and show us his trophies? We didn't mind though because he always had a candy cane for us before Chrismas break. Besides what else were we really doing any way?
