Blind spot

So you're driving all the way up I-80 here and you zoom up fast behind an old truck doing ten under the limit. You have to pass him, right? So you hit your signal and turn to check your blind spot.
Have you ever noticed, and maybe I'm the only one who does this, that you close one eye to do it? I mean, what is that? Closing eyes to see blind spots? I guess maybe it's because the nose gets in the way, or maybe it's my glasses that make a little fuzzy line, but it is very second nature and I can't stop myself from doing it, even though I've tested it and I know I can see just as well with two eyes as I can with one.

I like this idea of closing one eye to get a better view at something, of having to block out a distraction in order to keep your sights on something important. I like this idea of foregoing, say, spiritual depth perception, where sometimes we have to block out the distraction of what the world tells us or what logic tells us or what we tell ourselves to keep our sights on what is really important.

And what is important? Well, chocolate for one, and peanut butter for another. I think I might kill for a Reeses right now.

Well, I can't say that I close one eye to check my blindspot. Does that mean I don't have enough spiritual depth?! Ha! Ha! I just think you're friggin' hilarious Misty! And I'm with you on the Reese's. What could be more important right now than peanut butter and chocolate in the same gooey treat? Nada!
