I can't sleep

It's 4:00 am, do you know where your wife is? She's probably blogging.

So I went to Anne of Green Gables night and it was really nice to get away for a bit. Dave was really great to take care of the kids and put them to bed so I could go. But while we waited for everyone to arrive we made a soda run to get gigantic sodas and now I am wide awake. Well, not wide, but awake nonetheless.

You know how when it's been a few days since you wrote a poem and you get that tightness in your chest that there is a poem inside you that needs let out? That's how I feel tonight. I couldn't get the poem out, so I did what I always do when I need help, prayed. This came instantly to me:

I give you the Poem Sans Words

He said. The idea of it so simple
it lit the tinder in my heart.

The poem that is the best
He said: a golden luminescent tree
full growing from your chest.

I see you understand
He said, that only I
can write a poem without the words.

They will say it is absurd.
They will say it must have words.
Indulge them with a nod.

That's all I've got so far. It's four in the morning; what do you expect?

I realize this is a Christmas picture, but do you see what I mean (or He means)?

Now do you see it?

How about now?

I think I just got sleepy. See you in the morning.
